Ceramic brake pads are a type of brake pad, and many consumers initially mistakenly believe that they are made of ceramics. In fact, ceramic brake pads are based on the principle of metal ceramics rather than non-metal ceramics. Due to high-speed and strong braking, brake pads generate high temperatures on the friction surface, which can reach 800-900 degrees Celsius, and some even higher. At this high temperature, a reaction similar to metal ceramic sintering occurs on the surface of the brake pad, which gives the brake pad good stability at this temperature. Traditional brake pads, on the other hand, do not undergo sintering reactions at this temperature. However, a sharp increase in surface temperature can cause the surface material to melt or even create air pockets, resulting in a sharp decrease in braking performance or complete loss of braking after continuous braking.


Including mineral fibers, aramid fibers, and ceramic fibers (as steel fibers can corrode, produce noise and dust, they cannot meet the requirements of ceramic formulations), ceramic brake pads are lighter in color and more expensive than other brake pads. Ceramic brake pads are cleaner and quieter, and provide good braking performance without wearing out the mating parts. Ceramic formula does not refer to a formula that uses ceramic fibers. The standard for determining whether a formula is ceramic is mainly based on the performance of the material, but this material does not refer to what raw materials are used, but to the performance of the finished product.
